AI Research Enhancement through Networked Agents

A sovereign, generative and agentic AI environment integrated with the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). This AI environment will serve as a scientific assistant supporting the full research lifecycle, from literature review and hypothesis generation to analysis, reporting, and provenance capture.

Coordinated by Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), with SCIC in the role of technical coordinator, EOSC-ARENA brings together a significant consortium to address the pressing needs in the use of smart algorithms and AI/ML services in scientific research, focusing on model and data sovereignty and emphasizing human-centred AI, responsible usage, research integrity, transparency, trustworthiness, quality, and provenance.

The EOSC-ARENA results will become part of the AI4EOSC ecosystem and collaboration, extending the AI4OS software stack towards GenAI.

Pillars & Scope

Infrastructure development
and integration

Establishment and definition of the architecture, and technology scouting in a dynamically advancing GenAI landscape, developing a fine-tuned, federated system.

Agentic GenAI approach

Introduction of async and pluggable Agentic AI Systems, including multi-agent composition, orchestration and communication solutions, and GenAI model pre- and post-training in scientific domains.

Responsible, Interoperable and FAIR GenAI Frameworks

Ethical and philosophical guidance to shape the design of learning paths for responsible AI and scientific integrity. Development of semantic interoperability and standards architecture, creating grounds for integration of open science with collaborative human-AI work.

Community building

Development of learning paths for responsible AI and scientific integrity leveraging the EOSC-ARENA use cases, and provision of a support programme for the uptake of GenAI assisted workflows, with particular focus on engaging with EOSC Nodes and emerging AI Factories ecosystems.
