2026 Coordination Meeting of EOSC-related projects

This week, EOSC-ARENA participated in the 2026 Coordination Meeting of EOSC-related projects funded under Horizon Europe, joining fellow EOSC-related consortia, the European Commission, and the EOSC Association to discuss progress and collaboration across the EOSC landscape.

Representing EOSC-ARENA, the project’s Deputy Coordinator Szymon Mueler presented the project’s objectives and ambition, highlighting its expected contributions to the European Open Science Cloud:

  • A sovereign AI infrastructure that prioritizes European values and scientific objectives, ensuring that models, data and platforms remain independent from commercial interests.
  • Mechanisms for secure and transparent data management, model training and platform deployment within the EU e-Infrastructures ecosystem, with the EOSC as the point of reference.
  • AI tools that are intuitive and accessible, enhancing the research process without compromising human oversight and decision-making.
  • Comprehensive guidelines that promote the ethical and responsible use of AI in research, addressing issues such as transparency, trustworthiness, and the provenance of AI-generated data to maintain research integrity.
  • Guidelines integrated into the EOSC ecosystem and community, with training and capacity-building programs to educate researchers and data stewards on the responsible use of AI tools
  • Establishment of clear collaborations with other existing INFRAEOSC initiatives.

The meeting offered a valuable opportunity to exchange progress with fellow EOSC-related projects and align on shared priorities as the EOSC Federation continues to develop.
