What could AI change about the way we do science?
This is the question we’re bringing to Dublin on 14 October, as EOSC-ARENA joins the International AI Summit 2026 at the Royal Dublin Society alongside two sister European research projects, FLUID-AI and GenAI4Earth, at a shared exhibition stand.
Organised by the Irish Government in partnership with the European Commission as part of Ireland’s EU Council Presidency, the summit brings together heads of state, industry leaders, and researchers under the theme “Harnessing AI to Revolutionise Europe’s Competitiveness.” With speakers from Google DeepMind, Microsoft, OpenAI and the European Commission, the event marks the launch of European AI Innovation Month and puts AI for science firmly on the agenda.
Our joint booth in the summit’s Innovation Spotlight will showcase what happens when European research infrastructure meets the frontier of AI. Each project tackles a different piece of the puzzle:
EOSC-ARENA is building a sovereign, agentic AI environment integrated with the European Open Science Cloud. Through 12 real-world use cases across scientific disciplines, we are developing multi-agent architectures, responsible AI frameworks, and training programmes that put researchers in control of how AI supports their work.
FLUID-AI addresses a foundational challenge: making research data and AI models genuinely interoperable. The project introduces the concept of “data and models liquidity,” extending FAIR principles to meet the specific demands of AI-ready data, so that resources can move seamlessly across platforms and disciplines.
GenAI4Earth applies generative AI to earth observation and environmental science, exploring how large-scale models can accelerate discovery in climate research, biodiversity monitoring, and geospatial analysis.
